Work Description: HVAC Inspection/Repair

Comments: Though he was was respectful, the guy is a fraud and cannot be trusted. He contacted me to tell me the blower motor, circuit board and capacitor were all burnt up. I immediately questioned his knowledge because those don't add up. When asked if he bypassed the circuit board to apply current to test the motor he was caught off guard. I knew something wasn't right. He had quoted me $520 for all the parts, labor and service call.

Lee Company offered me a free 2nd opinion and arrived timely and within 10 minutes he called me up to show me the blower motor was running after he bypassed the circuit board. The only problem was the circuit board which he priced me at $34.92, which was half what Jay quoted me.

At the end of 30 minutes, I paid $140 out the door for the part, labor and service call and work guarantee. The fact his work truck had no other company signage to identify him other than "Maintenance" across the tailgate was a concert . I tried to look him up with the TN Secretary of State and couldn't find a registered business to validate the company so that lead to my hesitation of his quote even further and sparked my second opinion.

I'm sure he has some maintenance things he would be good at, but HVAC is not recommended at all after my experience. I can only hope in my faith in people that this was inexperience and not an intentional effort to jack up a quote and defraud a consumer.
I am sorry for your bad experience. unfortunately, my company was never sent your information. All we have is vans and are very knowledgeable about diagnostic of any brand of equipment. I personally diagnosis all problems and schedule repairs once work is authorized. You are not in my client contact anywhere and no history of ever going to your house. Work Description: Install new heat pump and unit in attic/split

Comments: This contractor purchased and installed a new 3.5 ton heat pump and the unit in the attic. He charged me 4,500 dollars to install the unit himself except with me helping. What made matters worse is that after I researched what he had sold me I discovered that Goodman bundles the two units for 1700 dollars. Assuming that is what he did because he left me no receipt of purchase he made a 2,790 dollar profit when he told me he would only make 800. I am angry that this person would take advantage of our situation needing a new system during 100 degree weather in Nashville . I am a senior citizen on disability and this is how we were treated. Additionally he left oil spray on the siding of the back of the house and told me to clean it with dawn but I didn’t make the mess. Under theses circumstances I am still will to negotiate with this contractor because I am in the process of having an attorney do that for me.
- Hi my name is Jay Collins, the owner of Jay’s Pro Services. I want to acknowledge the complaint from Mr. Munk. - Mr. Munk told me that he was a Metro detective and was in the middle of refinancing his home. Therefore, I made arrangements to help him by giving him 30 days to finance the equipment and service. After the work was completed he refused to pay. I went to Police Department and they informed me that Mr. Munk has done this before to other contractor’s. - Jay’s Pro Services prides itself with the customer relationships that have been established over the past 5 years. We bend over backwards for our customers. If we are unable to repair the problem, especially in extreme conditions either hot or cold, we always offer a temporary solution until repairs can be made. We care about our customers and always provide quality workmanship and excellent customer service. In certain situations we have provided payment plans to our customers and by no means would ever take advantage of anyone’s situation. - Mr. Munk agreed to the price of the installation before work had begun. The cost of the installation of a new Goodman unit with a 10 year warranty and 2 year labor warranty was offered at a standard and competitive price. Also, the Goodman equipment cost of $1700 that Mr. Munk referenced is not comparable to the package that was installed at his residence. - After the unit was installed, Mr. Munk went to all lengths to find out our contractor pricing with our vendor. Mr. Munk contacted our HVAC vendor to obtain Jay’s Pro Services’ pricing by stating that he was an employee of Jay’s Pro Services. Our vendor has safeguards that notify us when fraudulent inquires have taken place. - The installation was scheduled at the convenience of the customer and done in a timely manner. All debris was removed, and work was completed efficiently. - To date Mr. Munk has not paid for the installation or equipment that has been provided. I have made numerous efforts to discuss and/or correct any concerns. However, Mr. Munk has been difficult in the entire process. - It is unfortunate that Mr. Munk feels like he has been taken advantage of, but this was not expressed until after the work was complete. I stand behind my pricing and my quality of work. - Bottom line is Mr. Munk agreed to the terms of the installation, the work was completed on time and efficiently, everything is in working order, and yet he refuses to pay. I am sympathetic to his condition but being disabled does not make you entitled to not pay for work provided.
